This is the after photo. I've wanted a metal garden archway for our patio for years. Today was the day to get one.

Christmas Came and Left

 
The most simple Christmas of all and it was every bit as sweet as the elaborate ones of yesteryear.

Thrift Store Lamp

This lamp was $6.99 (without the shade) plus $9.95 for the re-wiring kit. That shade isn't quite right but something else will cross my path soon enough. It's wacky but I love it!

Latest Acquisition from the Flea Market at Work

 

I'm in love with this chair. It would be so fun to paint. The wood could be magenta or turquoise and the upholstery could have splashes of sunflowers. Or maybe just a really great pillow of some kind.

Early evening sunlight

 

This time of year, there's a fleeting moment in the early evening, just before sunset, when there's a beam of sunlight that comes through the dining room window. Everything in its path is illuminated. I stand there staring at the glow and in a blink, it's gone.

A Gift to Myself

So now when I walk out of the house or come home to it, I will be oh so very happy to see the patio.

 

Two and a half days of weeding, raking, moving pots, planting a few flowers, a tomato (a squash plant from Kerrie H.) and one load to the dumps and it looks great.

 

Ahhhhhhhhh.

Thanksgiving

 

Years ago I was all about linen,China, silver, matching crystal candlesticks and wine glasses,...blah, blah,blah. Now it's different. Stuff means less or maybe more if it is found or received. The tin candle stick is from Sedora's latest trip to Oaxaca, the paper mache fruit is from a trip to Mexico, the other little fruits are from Kerrie H., and the rest mostly from Thrift Stores.

 

It was a fabulous holiday spent with my family. Donald cooked mostly (the best Thanksgiving turkey, dressing and gravy etc. ever) and I cleaned mostly. My sister brought pies. It was one of the happiest holidays of memory. I hope the same was true for you as well.

White Christmas

It's a White Christmas after all. We'll stay home and skip the movie and Chinese dinner, happily.

Christmas Time at Home

I so enjoy seeing Christmas images on other's blogs that I thought I would add ours to the mix. Look at all the wrapping paper. This year we will use up what we have before buying any new wrap.

Making a gingerbread house was the only activity our 15 year old was willing to partake in. I am thankful for that.

Even the girls get decked out.
