White River Valley Museum in Auburn, WA

Last year I won the people's choice award so an image of my recyceled tin artwork is on this year's postcard. This is a fun show. The artworks are small and it's a small venue and there is lots of enthusiasm from the staff and other artists. Last year's opening was really fun. I'm hoping I will jury in this year. Public Art In Seattle, Washington by me... 2011

I could not be more pleased to have images of my work on a construction site wall.  It's located on James Street between 3rd and 4th Avenues in down town Seattle. In fact I stood  next to it telling the people who walked by that it's my artwork. One man from India was kind enough to stop and look at it. It was so funny.

Wenatchee Valley Museum

  Diane, Ross and Marita and I drove to Wenatchee for the opening of the Recycled Art of the Icicle Prize Judges Show. Traffic wasn't bad and the car was full of lively conversation. Marita  brought freshly baked chocolate chip cookies still warm from the oven.

The Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center is housed in an old post office and is grand and quaint at the same time. Complete with an original WPA .

If you go there, don't miss a thing. Be sure to see the art and the apple catapult.

Marita admires a quilt by Ross Palmer Beecher made of 7-up cans and inner tubes.

  Diane sports one of her trash fascinaters made from  caution tape.

   

 

 

Ross checks out one of Marita's pieces in the cabinet , where the majority of my work is installed, front and center. It looks great.

I almost died

 
Today the scar that was left from my big event is hardly noticeable. One person asked me if I had had a goiter removed and a few people who have had thyroid surgeries have asked if I had one too, but that's it. A year later it's safe to say that the biggest scar is left on the inside. Nearly dying has changed how I spend my time and has caused me to focus on what is really important to me.

 
Once again my dear sister arrived with camera in hand. In this photo I was mugging for her.

 

I will be eternally grateful to John and Craig for saving my life that night. Thank you a million times.

Kaffe Fassett and Me and the necklace...

 

Kaffe and I had a mutual friend named Zev Harris. In the 70's Zev gave my mother a necklace he had made. It's a fig leaf locket of sorts that hides male genitalia. I went to hear Kaffe last night on Vashon Island (thanks to Christina) and brought him a bouquet of button flowers. He hadn't seen them before and loved them.

 
Now it looks like he's thinking, I am tired and can you get this crazy woman away from me?
