One day I received an email via my website from a woman in South Africa who had started doing tin work. These images are of her art. I'm delighted by these pieces. The tins she uses aren't like any I've ever seen before. She has given be permission to share them here on my blog.They are truly wonderful.

This is a beautiful tin work brooch made by Emily Hickman.
There are literally hundreds of artists making tin jewelry these days. But few are doing it as well as Emily.
Emily's attention to detail and fine cutting ability put her head and shoulders above the rest. Her work is well thought out and crafted, making it highly desirable.

Kerrie's work is kind of like the Grand Canyon. You can hear about it and see photos of it but to really "get" it you have to experience it for yourself. It is very labor intensive and time consuming. Materials are gathered from many different sources, then they are deconstructed and altered and sewn together by hand. Sound simple? I assure you it is not. There is the mind bending process of color combining and detail figuring, what to add and what to leave out, each part is as big as the whole. In this case every part is as important as the next and no more or less than the final outcome.

I had the extreme pleasure of seeing Ellie Fernald's work up close and my mind is still boggled. Ellie creates her work with thread that she lays down into wax. Her color selections and subject matter are delightful, rich and inviting. There is a common thread throughout all of her life's work, from ceramics to painting to bead work to the thread paintings. It's all so detailed and painstakingly intricate.
Ellie doesn't show her work in galleries or have exhibits in museums, much to my dismay. When and if she does I'll be sure to let you know.
Kelly Lyles is one of the sweetest people I've ever known. She is the ultimate connector, introducing people to one another and broadcasting all the pertinent information on the Seattle Art Scene. I'm pretty sure she knows more than half of Seattle. Thanks to her email list of events, calls and educational information I've had work in multiple shows over the years (and 2 more coming up) and my work was shown on TV. Kelly is a gem and to know her is to love her. Thank you for all you do for me and your followers.

This is part of Robin Siegl's studio. It's very inviting and cozy, like a play house. I could be quite happy there,I know Robin is.
Robin has it well organized, there's lots of work going on. She uses rich colors to show what she sees when she goes rowing on the Duwamish. Click on this photo to enlarge it so you can see her excellent charcoal drawings on the back wall.
Here she is putting gesso on a support. Her space is in the C Building in Ballard where many artists have studios. They have an open studio event every second Saturday of the month in the evening. Currently there is a group show at Gallery 63 Eleven in Ballard. We went to see it today and it's swell.
(2019) Robin moved her studio to the Inscape Building a few years ago.
