River Valley Ranch, Farmstead Artisan Cheese

There is this fabulous cheese farm in Fall City, WA where they make the most delicious cheese. The owner is this totally amazing woman who has raised 5 children and is now producing cheese that she sells mostly to restaurants. She also raises and cares for all the animals that produce the milk for the cheese. They are almost like her pets, she has names for them and today when we were there 2 cows and a yak came practically running to her and nudged her affectionately.

If you ever get the chance, make an arrangement for a tour, you will be glad you did.Their practices are organic and their herd is fed spent barley from the Pike Brewery during milking time.

 

Or if you like you can buy their cheese at 2 Seattle Farmer's Markets, Saturday at the University District one or Sunday at the Ballard one.

Did I mention how much I love my job?

Quilcene, Washington

There is a picturesque farm in Quilcene, WA where they have a music festival.

 

They grow flowers, vegetables and fruit.

 

Mules live there and have a happy, carefree life. You can feed them carrots for 25 cents each.

 

The music is performed in the barn where you can sit or listen on the grassy hillside.

 

Picnic tables are sprinkled throughout and they sell lunches. It's a beautiful place.

Today's trip to the Zoo and Rose Garden

 

Did I mention I have the world's greatest job? Today we went to the Woodland Park Zoo and Rose Garden. The animals were posing for their close-ups. I think this guy was asleep.

 

The new penguin exhibit is great.

 

The roses were in full bloom.

 

It was a lovely day with the residents.

 

Looking For Answers

 

The new job is great. Getting hired to work there was one of the luckiest days of my life, although I didn't know it at the time. The thing is, there isn't much time for working in the studio, seeing friends or the rest of the maintenance of day to day living. Pity really.

Being Grateful

 

Dogs seem to be naturally grateful. As for me, it is something I need to sit and think about and unfortunately I only do it once a year at this time. The truth is I have so much to be grateful for that it's hard to think of everything. What I am outstandingly grateful for outside of my family, friends and home is the place where I work. I have never felt more appreciated or happy at a job in my entire life. What are you feeling most grateful for?
