Rhonda, a friend I made in Guanajuato last year, was returning to GTO this month. I asked her to take Gabriel a tin bird I had made for him. She agreed and this is the photograph and email she sent this week.
Finally was able to deliver your regalo to Gabriel! We've been here a couple of days. We went to his tienda but it had moved up the street, so we went to the new one, but the young woman in the store indicated
that he was at yet another new store off the plaza San Fernando. So we traipsed all over the plaza looking for el corazon de plata, but no- see. We found a lady who said, oh yeah, Gabriel, right next to the Charcuterie (charcuterie? Gto is going upscale, boo-hoo). But alas, no Gabriel. The music store next door didn't know him, nor the hardware guy. No Gabriel, no Corazon de plata, que lastima! So yesterday, we're walking through the San Fernando Plaza to have lunch at El Midi, and guess who comes running after us! Apparently the neighbors clued him in that 2 gringos were looking for him. Turns out he is indeed opening another little shop, and he rented the lovely apartment of above it -and he is busy there fixing it up with his hermano. So happy ending, but I didn't know how to say "open it now!" (and not wanting to be impolite) so here is a picture of him with your pajaro in it's little box, and he said muchas, muchas gracias and so warmly smiled as he does, and said he will write to you directly to thank you!
Isn't that great?
