Whirligigs from recycled pop cans

My new obsession is with things that spin in the wind. Look at these amazing whirligigs made out of recycled pop cans. I'm in love with them. They spin in different directions and look so beautiful in the garden, like little fancy lanterns. Recycled Paper Valentine Decorations

All you need is a heart paper punch, some paper and a sewing machine.

Cut out the hearts, put two together and run through the sewing machine, repeat.Then fold the hearts out (for more visual interest, vary the sizes and paper types) . Hang. They move and spin in the slightest breeze. Stick some bare branches in a vase or champagne bucket, using foam to secure them and hang dozens of heart strands from them for a spectacular display.

The hearts here haven't been folded open yet because they will be easier to transport in their closed position. I'll take another photo when they are situated at the party at work.

Class at Castle in the Air

I made these cards in class at Castle in the Air, Berkeley CA. It was a blast and very well taught by Alice Armstrong. Michael took the class with me and was the star. Hum...I forgot to photograph his cards. Oh well.

Alice Armstrong was working on these cards as instruction. They are simple and simply beautiful.
